Classes
Every Monday and Thursday we have class. The classes that we have are about what to do when we are at a job or when we apply for a job. We have three classes, our teachers are Mrs. Swanson, Ms. Colley, and Mrs. Pelkey. Mrs. Swanson teaches us how to tell time. Ms. Colley teaches us how to count money, and Mrs. Pelkey teaches how to create a resume. Every Tuesday and Friday, we have work cohorts. Work cohorts are recycling, housekeeping, cafeteria, and library. My personal favorite is recycling because we can go around the school and collect bottles and cans from each classroom. Also, we take a trip to the "Bloomfield Redemption Center". That's where we redeem the collected bottles and cans and get money back for the program. We also have other trips like "Food share" and "Dog Star Rescue". "Food share" is where we take the city bus to downtown and take another one to the north side of Hartford. What we do is we do volunteer work by helping out giving away food for the elderly who need help. "Dog Star Rescue" is where we help out carry the dog food and toys and place them in the storage room. We also clean the bus they take when they travel from state to state to rescue dogs. Sometimes we also get to pet the dogs and ride the bus if we are done with work. For me, going out in the community is sort of the right experience for me because I like to do things while I'm on my feet. These trips are to get you in the experience for a real work environment.
